What We Offer
Our Offer
At Phoenix Academy, we are proud of the high standards of pastoral care that our sixth form students receive to help them triumph at A-level. We know the pressures that come with studying at A-level and make every effort to ensure students can enjoy their studies with the necessary emotional support in place.
Students have strong relationships with sixth form leaders, including form tutors, a dedicated Head of Sixth Form, a Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Sixth Form Co-ordinator. Through this, they are supported to make the most of every day. Students have their own dedicated study centre and common room with roof terrace, and we take pride in supporting students to become driven and disciplined in their use of independent study time. While we are an integral part of Phoenix Academy, our Sixth Form has its own separate modern learning space, away from KS3 and KS4 students.

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) takes on substantive leadership roles within the school at large, championing student voice through chairing the school council, supporting clubs and extracurricular activities, and liaising regularly with school leaders to ensure the very best experience for all. We offer many unique opportunities, both internally, and externally with our close partnerships with White City employers like Blenheim Chalcot, BBC and L’Oreal that ensure Phoenix Sixth Form alumni stand out in the wider world.
Enrichment
Enrichment at Phoenix Academy Sixth Form is an integral part of the taught curriculum. We deliver a comprehensive programme that is designed to support students’ future aspirations and personal development. Throughout the two years of A Level study, students will have multiple one-to-one meetings with the Sixth Form Team to help make important decisions about their future, whether that is to pursue a university degree, an apprenticeship, or to enter the working world.
Every Wednesday afternoon, students will participate in two periods of enrichment. During this time our students get to engage with guest speakers, careers advice, assistance in gaining work experience, volunteering opportunities, CV writing, and post-18 preparation, along with a multitude of trips around London enjoying art galleries and university campus tours.
Leadership and public speaking are also integral parts of our enrichment program, in which we provide opportunities for our students to develop these crucial skills through various activities and workshops, such as ones hosted by Construction Youth Trust, Blenhelm Chalcot and Henry Boot Development.
Additionally, students have the chance to engage in whole school events, fostering a sense of community and offering up the opportunity for our Sixth Form students to take on leadership roles within the Academy, such as Head Boy, Head Girl or as part of our Junior Leadership Team.
We also place a strong emphasis on mental health through our enrichment programme, ensuring students have access to the support and resources needed to maintain their well-being at such a crucial stage in their life. This occurs regularly, but with a particular emphasis on our Wellbeing Assemblies and Junior Leadership Team’s led Friday Games sessions. We also utilise support from experts who have worked in the NHS and offer mentoring and small-group sessions with the charity MIND.
